Pachypodium lamerei f. crestata Ø 25
The majestic botanical sculpture of Madagascar
A rare one-of-a-kind specimen with a fan-shaped crested trunk, sharp spines, and pure white blooms
Pachypodium lamerei f. crestata is a striking morphological cresting of the renowned “Madagascar Palm”. Belonging to the Apocynaceae family, this rare crested form develops a silvery, spiny stem that spreads horizontally into undulating, fan-like waves rather than growing into a single upright column, producing completely unique living sculptures.
We are delighted to offer this impressive one of a kind specimen of high botanical interest, a truly rare plant for avid collectors. Along the upper ridge of the crest, comb-like clusters of glossy, bright green leaves emerge. During the summer growing season, mature plants receiving abundant direct sunlight produce exquisite terminal blooms: large, star-shaped white flowers featuring a warm golden-yellow center, radiating a soft, sweet fragrance.
Nurtured with great precision in our greenhouses, this 25 cm specimen brings a dramatic architectural statement into any prestigious succulent collection.
Care and growing tips
- Light exposure: thrives in full sun or maximum direct light to preserve its compact crest structure and encourage growth.
- Watering: water thoroughly in summer, allowing the potting mix to dry completely between waterings. Reduce drastically or hold off entirely during winter dormancy.
- Soil and substrate: mandates a fast-draining, mineral-rich substrate with plenty of pumice and lava stone to avoid root decay.
- Temperature: highly sensitive to cold and excess moisture. Winter indoors in a warm, dry area keeping temperatures above 12–15 °C.
- Spines and care notes: features sharp, prominent spines along the stem; handle carefully with protective padding during repotting.
