An elite hybrid from Japanese selection, it is considered one of the most unusual, bold, and sought-after cacti in the world. This exclusive cultivar amplifies the traits of the standard species, featuring a globular stem made of large, swollen, smooth, geometric tubercles that resemble elephant skin or a cluster of bubbles. The term inermis indicates a complete lack of spines, a feature that lays bare its sculptural forms, making it soft to the touch and enhancing its “monstrous” and modern look – perfect for rare succulent collectors.

FLOWERING: produces large funnel-shaped flowers in deep pink or purple, appearing in late spring – summer, usually at the top of the stem.

CULTIVATION NOTES:

• Exposure: full sun or bright light; in summer, light shade during the hottest hours is appreciated to prevent sunburn.
• Watering: moderate in spring/summer, allowing the substrate to dry out completely between waterings. Almost withhold in winter.
• Soil: well-draining and porous, with a prevalence of inert materials (pumice, lava grit, coarse sand) and low organic content.
• Fertilizing: once a month during the growing season, using a specific cactus fertilizer with low nitrogen.
• Did you know? The name “Tanshi Zougemaru” refers to a very rare Japanese selection, prized for its perfect tubercle symmetry and complete spinelessness, making it one of the most coveted cultivars among advanced enthusiasts.
