Cotyledon undulata f. variegata Ø 14
Presented in an elegant terracotta pot from our exclusive Linea Manera, this variegated variety is far more than just a succulent – it is a true botanical gem, treasured by collectors and enthusiasts for its rarity and sculptural form.
Renowned for its striking chromatic impact and the purity of its lines, it commands attention with its fleshy leaves bearing strongly undulated margins, enhanced by an asymmetrical variegation of rare beauty, where cream-white blends delicately with pastel green. The entire surface, velvety to the touch, is covered in a dense silvery-white powdery bloom (farina), giving the plant an almost lunar aura while reflecting sunlight and protecting it from excessive exposure.
Rare and sought-after, this elite specimen is perfect for enhancing curated botanical collections and designer plant compositions, offering a focal point of great character.
Botanical and cultivation notes
- Exposure: prefers very bright positions, even with some direct sunlight during the cooler hours. In overly shaded conditions, it tends to lose compactness and the variegation fades.
- Watering: water only when the substrate is completely dry. In winter, reduce to a minimum, especially if kept at low temperatures. Absolutely avoid waterlogging, which is the primary cause of root rot.
- Soil: requires a well-draining, coarse substrate – ideally a succulent mix with added pumice or perlite (at least 50% inert material).
- Fertilization: during the growing season (spring-summer), apply a specific fertilizer for succulents, low in nitrogen and rich in potassium and phosphorus, diluted to half the recommended strength.
- Flowering: under optimal conditions, in late spring to summer, it produces panicle inflorescences with tubular orange-reddish flowers, which contrast beautifully with the silvery foliage.
- Did you know? The whitish powdery bloom on the leaves consists of natural wax crystals that the plant produces to defend itself against UV rays and reduce transpiration. This adaptation makes it particularly resistant to arid conditions.
Easy to care for, it requires only minimal attention: it loves light and fears excess water. Perfect for those seeking beauty without hassle.
