Haworthia truncata x Maughanii Ø 14

Presented in an elegant terracotta pot from our Manera Line, this rare succulent is the result of a selective cross between two morphologically striking species: Haworthia truncata, with its characteristic fan-shaped growth, and Haworthia maughanii, known for its cylindrical, rounded-tip leaves. The resulting hybrid forms a compact, highly sculptural rosette of fleshy, erect leaves with a distinctly truncated and angular apex.

On the upper surface of each leaf, broad translucent windows are crossed by crystalline veins and patterns that capture and refract light beautifully. Each specimen displays a unique surface opacity and veining pattern, making it a truly one-of-a-kind piece.

Cultivation notes

Exposure: bright light, with a few hours of morning or late afternoon sun. Avoid direct sunlight during the hottest hours to prevent leaf burn.

Watering: moderate; allow the substrate to dry out completely between waterings. Reduce watering significantly during winter.

Substrate: well-draining and porous, based on inert materials (pumice, volcanic grit, coarse sand) with a limited organic component.

Fertilisation: from spring to summer, using a low-nitrogen fertiliser for succulents, diluted to half strength, applied once a month.

Flowering: in summer, it produces slender flower stalks with small, tubular, greenish-white flowers – discreet but botanically interesting.

Did you know? The translucent “windows” at the leaf tips are an adaptation for photosynthesis under low-light conditions, typical of South African Haworthias. In their natural habitat, these plants grow partially buried, with only the transparent surfaces exposed to light.
