Mangave ‘Praying Hands’ Ø 14
Presented in a refined terracotta pot Ø 14 cm from our exclusive Manera Line, this Mangave ‘Praying Hands’ is not just a plant, but a living icon on the international ornamental botany scene.
An elite hybrid, the result of a very careful selection, ‘Praying Hands’ has conquered the global stage by receiving the prestigious “Plant of the Year” award at IPM Essen, establishing itself as one of the most revolutionary and sought-after succulents.
What makes it extraordinarily unique is its sculptural habit: far from the classic rosettes that open horizontally, this variety develops fleshy, rigid, lanceolate leaves that grow upwards and then curve gracefully inwards, almost touching at the tips. The result is a geometric, compact silhouette that evokes the shape of an ornamental artichoke or, as the name suggests, the symbolic image of two hands clasped in prayer.
Growing notes:
- Exposure: loves bright light, even direct sunlight for a few hours a day. Adapts to partial shade but loses compactness.
- Watering: allow the substrate to dry out completely between waterings. In winter, reduce to a minimum (once a month or less). Absolutely avoid waterlogging.
- Soil type: needs a well-draining succulent mix (e.g. 50% universal potting soil, 30% coarse sand or pumice, 20% perlite).
- Fertilizing: from spring to summer, apply a specific fertilizer for cacti and succulents, diluted to half strength, once a month.
- Flowering: may produce a tall flower spike with tubular greenish-yellow or pinkish flowers, but flowering is rare indoors and takes years.
- Curiosity: it is an interspecific hybrid between an agave and a manfreda, hence the name “Mangave”. Hardy and relatively fast-growing for a succulent.
Sober in character and easy to grow, it requires little attention: it loves light and fears only water stagnation. A presence that combines art, nature and design, conceived for those who seek excellence in every detail.
