Trichocereus pachanoi f. crestata variegata – Ø14, supplied in an elegant terracotta pot from our Manera Line.

This exceptional variety represents a natural double genetic anomaly that makes it a one-of-a-kind piece. The crested form alters the normal vertical growth of the plant, forcing it to develop into spectacular wavy ridges. Added to this is the variegation, a partial lack of chlorophyll that decorates the stem with yellow and golden spots and streaks, making each specimen different from all the others. A unique and unrepeatable piece of natural art.

Exposure: prefers very bright locations, with a few hours of direct morning or late afternoon sunlight. Avoid the scorching midday sun to prevent burning the more sensitive variegated parts.

Watering: water only when the substrate is completely dry. In summer, every 7–10 days; in winter, almost completely suspend. Fear waterlogging, which causes root rot.

Soil type: use a very well-draining mix, ideal for cacti: 50% universal potting soil, 30% pumice or perlite, and 20% coarse sand. Add some volcanic lapilli to improve drainage.

Fertilization: during the growing season (spring-summer), apply a specific cactus fertilizer, low in nitrogen and rich in potassium and phosphorus, once a month. Suspend in autumn-winter.

Flowering: under optimal conditions and on a mature plant, it can produce large, fragrant white-cream flowers that bloom at night. However, the crested and variegated form flowers more rarely than the normal form.

Curiosities: each specimen is absolutely unique – the combination of cresting and variegation never repeats identically. It is a slow-growing plant, highly sought after by collectors. Moreover, despite the partial lack of chlorophyll, if well cared for, it remains vigorous and healthy.
