Urginea epigea Ø 25 cm

Fascinating and rare bulbous plant, native to arid and sunny environments.

Exposure: full sun or bright direct light for at least 6 hours a day. In summer, in very hot areas, it appreciates slight shade during the central hours.

Soil: well-draining and low in organic matter. Ideal mix for succulents with coarse sand, pumice, and lapilli, or 2 parts universal potting soil + 1 part perlite + 1 part silica sand.

Watering: scarce and only when the substrate is completely dry. In winter, stop almost entirely, especially if temperatures drop below 10 °C. Absolutely avoid waterlogging, which causes root rot.

Fertilizing: once a month in spring and summer with a liquid fertilizer for bulbs or cacti, low in nitrogen and rich in potassium and phosphorus, diluted to half strength.

Flowers: spike-like inflorescences with small white or light green flowers, clustered in dense racemes. Flowering occurs in late summer or autumn, often after a dormant period.

Features: lanceolate, fleshy, glaucous-green leaves that appear in autumn–winter and dry up in summer during dormancy.

Tips: perfect for collectors and lovers of botanical rarities. Adapts well to perforated pots and very bright environments. Beware of waterlogging and damp cold.
