Myrtillocactus geometrizans ‘Fukurokuryuzinboku’ – a specimen of rare beauty, presented in an elegant terracotta pot Ø 14 cm from our Manera Line.

This cultivar represents one of the most fascinating and sought-after morphological mutations in the world of Cactaceae. Unlike the typical species, it develops sculptural forms of extraordinary personality: the longitudinal ribs transform into soft, fleshy, rounded tubercles, giving the plant an organic, sinuous architecture, famous worldwide for its shapes that evoke feminine curves (nicknamed “Buddha’s breast” in Japan).

The surface is covered with a delicate natural pruina, which gives the plant intense bluish reflections, interrupted only by the tiny apical areoles. The result is a perfect balance between botanical elegance and decorative power, capable of immediately becoming the focal point of any space, from the most modern to the most classic.

Growing notes:

• Exposure: thrives in bright light, preferably direct sunlight for a few hours a day, but also tolerates partial shade. Indoors, place it near a sunny window.
• Watering: moderate in spring/summer, allowing the substrate to dry out completely between waterings. In winter, reduce to almost nothing.
• Soil type: well-draining, based on coarse sand, pumice, or volcanic grit, with a little universal potting soil. The ideal pH is slightly acidic.
• Fertilizing: once a month from April to September with a liquid cactus fertilizer, rich in potassium and low in nitrogen.
• Flowering: in spring, if well cared for, it produces small greenish-white flowers, followed by edible berries resembling blueberries (hence the name Myrtillocactus).

Curiosity: in Japan, it is highly prized for its unmistakable shape. It is also used as a rootstock for other cactus varieties due to its robustness. Slow but steady growth: in a pot, it can reach one meter in height over many years.
