Also known as Pitaya Cactus in its variegated form, this is a botanical gem of rare beauty and great visual impact. This collector’s variety stands out for its erect columnar stem, which blends the elegant bluish hue typical of the species with spectacular yellow-cream streaks and patches caused by variegation. The prominent ribs are decorated with areoles bearing greyish or blackish spines, creating an exceptional chromatic contrast.

Exposure: enjoys bright light, even direct sun, but a slight shading during the hottest hours is recommended to prevent sunburn on the variegated areas. In winter, protect from frost.

Watering: moderate and spaced out, allowing the substrate to dry completely between waterings. In winter, reduce watering almost entirely.

Soil type: well-draining and mineral-based; an ideal cactus mix with added pumice or volcanic lapilli to ensure rapid water drainage.

Fertilizing: from spring to late summer, using a specific cactus fertilizer low in nitrogen and rich in potassium and phosphorus, once a month.

Flowers: produces funnel-shaped nocturnal flowers, white or pinkish, blooming in late spring and attracting night pollinators.
