Euphorbia aggregata
Collections and plants for sale in the Boutique.
A small succulent and very spiny shrub, growing in dense flattened cushions or small mounds.
It forms a low, compact cushion, reaching about 5–7.5 cm in height. Over time, a single plant can spread up to one meter in diameter, becoming a cluster of hundreds of stems.
The stems are erect, grass-green when young and brownish when old. They are 2–3 cm in diameter, with a cross-section typically featuring 8–9 angles (or ribs), sometimes 7. The ribs are blunt, with triangular grooves between them.
What appear to be spines are actually modified, persistent flower stalks, not true thorns. They are solitary, irregularly spaced along the stem margins, and measure about 6–8 mm in length. When young they are reddish or purplish, turning brown with age.
The flowers, typical of the genus Euphorbia, are grouped in structures called cyathia. They are green or dark purple and appear at the tips of the branches.
