Tephrocactus geometricus Ø 12

Tephrocactus geometricus, a masterpiece of nature, famous for its globular segments that grow one above the other in almost perfect spheres. Featuring a matte epidermis shading from blue-green, this cactus displays a unique geometric pattern outlined by the edges of its tubercles. Lacking aggressive spines (often completely spineless), in summer or spring it produces large, spectacular whitish-pink flowers with a yellow centre.

Exposure: full sun or very bright light, with good air circulation. Tolerates intense sun, but protect during the hottest hours in summer if grown in a small pot.

p>Soil: extremely well-draining, with a prevalence of inert material (pumice, lava grit, coarse sand) and very little organic matter. Neutral to slightly alkaline pH.

Watering: sparse, only when the substrate is completely dry. In spring/summer about every 7-10 days, gradually reduce in autumn and stop in winter. Absolutely avoid waterlogging.

Fertilising: once a month from May to September with a specific cactus fertiliser, low in nitrogen and rich in potassium and phosphorus, diluted to half strength.

Winter rest: keep dry and cool (5-10 °C) to encourage spring blooming.

It requires little care, loves light and fears stagnant water.
