The Didiereaceae family includes succulent and caudiciform plants endemic to Madagascar. They are characterized by spiny and fleshy stems, similar to those of cacti (evolutionary convergence phenomenon). The main genera include Alluaudia, Decarya, Didierea, and Alluaudiopsis. They are slow-growing plants, adapted to hot and dry climates. They need very well-draining soil, full sun exposure, and moderate watering during the growing season, with reduced watering in winter.
